America's Glastonbury: Coachella festival

Last weekend the Empire Polo Fields, Indio, deep in the Californian desert played host to the hugely anticipated Coachella festival. Every year when this one comes up it really kicks starts the summer, nothing gets us ready for festival season than seeing pictures of A-listers dancing in a field!

With the volcanic ash causing many of the scheduled acts to miss their slots, Jay Z, La Roux, LCD Soundsystem and many more still performed for the 75,000 people strong crowd as they partied in heat that hit highs of 90 degrees (not quite so much like Glastonbury).

 

Anything goes when it comes to festival fashion as Peaches Geldof and model Chanel Iman have both demonstrated by working chic and boho looks at this year's Coachella. Fashion favourite Alison Mosshart of The Dead Weather also looked her usual rock-goddess self in black.
