VV Brown's stylist with lil' ole moi
While our Style Studio was the talk of Lovebox, behind the scenes yours
truly was schmoozing with the stars backstage and saving some of the coolest
female artists from serious wardrobe malfunctions with a few hot little numbers - former Sugababe, Mutya Buena,
was bowing to our gold gladiators so sore were her feet from high heels.
Needless to say, we were pretty fired up backstage by the general vibe -
it’s not that often that you are in one place with people playing guitars,
being interviewed and looking fab all whilst sipping on champagne!
Hot new music act, MPHO
Backstage highlights on Saturday included seeing Mark Ronson (looking
sharp and chic in head-to-toe black and classic Wayfarer sunnies), Simon Le Bon
who was uber friendly and posed for photos with almost everyone that asked. VV
Brown was milling about in a great sequined jacket and trademark quiffed hair. While
Pharrell of N*E*R*D was driven through the rain to perform via golf buggy to
avoid the downpour - nice touch!
Florence Welch of Florence & The Machine in the Warehouse backstage area
The ultimate, ultimate moment backstage on Saturday had to be meeting
Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine. She looked like a vintage doll with
her pale skin, red hair and gorgeous outfit that comprised a very small pair of
shorts (she is slim enough to pull these off!) a gorge blouse and a beautiful,
cream lace hat, which clearly inspired her Warehouse choices of a cream lace scarf and a cream studded kaftan mini-dress. Keep your
eyes peeled for her wearing them!
Meanwhile, the rest of the festival wasn’t letting a little rain ruin the
day. As the heavens opened the entire field was branded with Warehouse as everyone got their Warehouse ponchos out. It created a great statement:
'Warehouse is here!!' and the Style
Studio turned into a mini rave, with around 200 people all dancing in front of
it. A security guy was even offered £20 to let someone in. Now that's what little
old moi calls hot!
Warehouse Style Studio carry on despite the rain
Sunday was a (slightly) quieter affair, but still great fun. We met two
guys from the New York Dolls, who selected an item each for their wives. Gary
Newman was overheard saying he was at the end of a 72-hour bender! Not bad for
a 50-or-60-something. Cool new singer MPHO came to see us and selected a criss-cross
drape tunic and a pair of black cuffed sandals. All pretty exciting for a now
advanced star-spotter, but the true highlight of Sunday had to be meeting
Ladyhawke and her band! Ladyhawke (aka Pip Brown) snaffled up a straw trilby -
very her I must say - and her band members selected a range of accessories and
a drape-front jumpsuit.
Ladyhawke backstage with Warehouse
After a few too many glasses of champers and after packing all of our
stuff away, the remaining crew
all headed to see Simian Mobile Disco. An awesome set and a great finish to the
festival - as you may have guessed, I love, love, loved Lovebox.
